Thisbe's Veil || Earrings
Forged as an ode to the Mulberry bush, these light purple hued glass reminds me of the color the sweet juice stains your fingers. Babalonian folklore on Thisbe and Pyramus (which inspired Romeo and Juliet) says forbidden lovers planned to escape together, instead both meeting their tragic deaths and staining what was once a white berry dark red as symbol of their undying love. Pliny the Elder called it the wisest tree, for it does not begin to bud til the final frost has long lifted. Their shape is a longer clustered spiral and their bark is said to be used to ward off evil and for protection. There is a lot of folk magic surrounding these bushes and their berries, and these were made honoring the fact it takes 10 year for the Mulberry to fruit, and that nature can teach us patience, if we let it.
